Since 1932, Save the Children has worked to make real and lasting change in the lives of children in need. Seventy-five years of experience working hand-in-hand with families and communities at home and abroad has taught us that poverty need not be a life sentence. Save the Children's internationally respected community development approach has nurtured the seeds of hope for millions of people.
Our work is both inspiring and challenging, with real results for children and families in need. Save the Children works in more than 50 countries, including the United States, and serves more than 33 million children and 32 million others working to save and improve children’s lives, including parents, community members, local organizations and government agencies.
There are other ways we are unique. Children are at the center of all that we do in work that takes us primarily to the poorest parts of the world, including Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Eurasia, Latin America, the Middle East and the United States. We always work in partnership with families, communities and governments, as well as with individuals, corporations and businesses, foundations, nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) and governments — so that programs have long-term impact and can be independently sustained. We sometimes are the only NGO reaching out to children in places considered too remote, too difficult or too dangerous, such as pockets of poverty in Appalachia, the Mississippi Delta, American Indian reservations at home, in Bhutan and abroad.
You can see why to successfully perform our mission our goal is to attract, motivate, and retain the best people in the right positions. We hire deeply committed, talented and experienced individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of children worldwide.
The work environment at Save is one that is driven by cooperative team building and timely implementation. Our employees work hard, experience challenges and have many opportunities to develop new skills. Furthermore, we establish a climate in which employees feel valued and empowered to seek and achieve career goals that are aligned with the priorities of the Agency.
Save the Children offers a comprehensive benefits package that is designed to meet the needs of a diverse workforce. U.S.-based and overseas employees are eligible to enroll in the following plans: group medical, retirement savings plan and time benefits. Other benefits such as relocation assistance, cost of living and housing allowances may apply for overseas employees.
Additionally, Save the Children has developed a work/life strategy, which sets the framework for our commitment to achieving a culture that supports balance between employees' work and personal lives. Specific programs include: alternative work schedules, child care referral services, children-in-the-workplace, occasional flexible circumstances and family leave.
Save the Children provides equal opportunity to applicants for employment at its U.S. and international locations without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, ancestry, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, marital status or any other status protected by applicable law. Save the Children is committed to supporting its mission and the communities worldwide it works with by achieving and maintaining a diverse workforce at all levels of the organization and implements appropriate proactive steps to achieve this standard. The goal of Save the Children's recruitment process is to be open and competitive, communicate with all known constituencies and attract as many qualified candidates as possible, some of which may later be given job offers.
