Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for performing onsite cross-connection inspections and water quality analysis to ensure water systems are in compliance with Louisville Water Company rules and regulations.    

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform preliminary and detailed onsite cross-connection control inspections of commercial and industrial customers.
 
Report inspection results and assess hazards to potable water supply.
 
Perform onsite water quality analysis and assessment.
 
Meet and discuss non-compliance procedures with internal/external customers.
 
Perform quality control back flow prevention device testing.
 
Maintain field equipment and instruments, as assigned.
 
Ability to upload/download inspection data to master cross-connection control database.
 
Assist in responding to customer and management inquiries concerning water quality.
 
Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None.
 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Generally, works up to 20 hours per week primarily in field work sites.  Field work is conducted under all types of weather conditions.  Inspections may be performed at potentially hazardous locations involving toxic or otherwise harmful chemicals.  Travels between various company locations and work sites. 
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent; and eight (8) years’ experience in commercial plumbing and piping systems, OR six (6) years’ experience with Journeyman license, and/or knowledge of Louisville Water Company’s distribution system and water services; and
 
Certified Backflow Prevention Device Tester or have the ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of hire date; and
 
Valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:                                                                                                                                       
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds of equipment.  Field activities may include maneuvering in tight spaces and climbing ladders in commercial/industrial type environments.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of Customer Care Information System.
 
Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) related software.
