About our Electronic Health Records (EHR) Technician roles:
Our technicians complete a variety of tasks associated with the collecting, assessing and processing of patient documentation, while ensuring each patient has a seamless experience by providing support over the phone.

Electronic Health Records Tech General Scanner Responsibilities:

  • Index documents into Epic (Norton's digital medical record system) that are sent from outpatient, physician practices.
  • Store, retrieve, review, assess, and process health-related information in both paper format and electronic format
  • Contributes to overall patient safety, revenue cycle management and continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Serves as a resource for all members of patient care teams to improve patient documentation that allows for accurate medical record practices compliant with applicable Federal, State and Accreditation guidelines

Electronic Health Records Tech Hospital Scanner Responsibilities:

  • Travels throughout the Norton network of hospitals to collect patient records.
  • Prep the inpatient documents for processing and scan them into OnBase
  • Index records into Epic (Norton's digital medical record system) as needed.
  • Store, retrieve, review, assess, and process health-related information in both paper format and electronic format
  • Contributes to overall patient safety, revenue cycle management and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Electronic Health Records Tech Telecom Agent Responsibilities:

  • Announcing codes and pages through Vocera (Hospital communication system), throughout the Norton network of Hospitals
  • Answering and transferring calls to the appropriate location
  • Store, retrieve, review, assess, and process health-related information in both paper format and electronic format
  • Provide customer support and help guide patients through the MyChart app/website
  • Request medical records to be mailed or faxed to Norton Healthcare and log through Epic (Norton digital medical record system)
  • Assist patients with connecting to their zoom visits and general troubleshooting
  • Answer calls from other healthcare entities and release records via request over the phone, Epic, Mail and Fax

Electronic Medical Records, Content Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for researching release of information requests and communicating with outside stakeholders (Insurance companies/Attorneys/Other third parties) via an email work queue
  • Communicates with ROI Supervisors for the disputes received via email to find a final resolution.
  • Use Powershare to release clinical images electronically to other healthcare entities
  • Announcing codes and pages through Vocera, throughout the Norton network of Hospitals
  • Answering and transferring calls to the appropriate location
  • Provide customer support and help guide patients through the MyChart app/website
  • Assist patients with connecting to their zoom visits and general troubleshooting
  • Answer calls from other healthcare entities and release records via request over the phone, Epic, Mail and Fax
  • Request medical records to be mailed or faxed to Norton Healthcare and log through Epic

Qualifications

Electronic Health Records Required:

  • One year healthcare experience
  • High School Diploma or GED

Electronic Medical Records, Content Specialist Required:
  • Associate Degree
  • One of: RHIA or RHIT - Must obtain Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential within 6 months of hire.
