Your responsibilities
Sets up and operates numerically controlled vertical turret lathe to perform machining operations such as splitting, turning, boring and facing of forgings in a safe manner.
Your profile
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Studies blueprints or setup instructions to determine dimension, proper tooling, machining required and feed and speed rates. Calls down appropriate program for part or writes program for part. Lifts and mounts work piece between centers, in chuck, faceplate or other appropriate fixture. Selets and installs tooling into tool posts, turrets or indexing heads and automatic tool change magazine, in sequence specified on process sheet. Observes numerical display on control panel and compares with data on print sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates and speeds on machining cuts. Notifies supervisor if machined work piece does not conform to specifications or if machine malfunctions. Accurately completes appropriate production related paperwork. Properly maintains machine(s) to insure maximum machine performance. Maintains a neat and orderly work area and performs all duties and operations in a safe manner in accordance with all company rules and safety/environmental procedures. Assists in the completion of duties as assigned by the supervisor in the event of excessive workloads, vacations, machine malfunctions or absences.
