Job Summary

The House Manager has designated shift responsibility for:

  • Safe and efficient operations, house-wide
  • The management, development and motivation of personnel
  • Customer service
  • Management of supplies and resources
  • Assistance with maintenance of accreditation and licensure standards

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The following summarizes the major functions of the House Manager's position. He/she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.

A. The House Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Hospital during those hours in which Administration is absent. Further, the House Manager is responsible for the cohesive operation of all Hospital Departments during those hours in which he or she is present. The House Manager is responsible for the supervision of all unit personnel, allied health professionals, and support staff during their designated shift.

B. As a member of the management team, the House Manager acts as a leader, role model and consultant. The House Manager works within the Hospital Mission/Value Statement and Policies and Procedures. The House Manager provides appropriate resources and guidance.

C. The House Manager is responsible for assessing and managing appropriate staffing levels, supplies and resources within the constraints of the approved budget.

D. Assists with the maintenance of accreditation and licensure standards.

E. The House Manager is responsible for the maintenance and further expansion of managerial skills and maintains professional accountability.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required

  • Current Kentucky RN Licensure
  • BSN
  • Minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience
  • Creativity, resourcefulness, superior communication skills and the ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • BCLS & ACLS Certification
  • Moderate sedation competent

Preferred:

  • 1 Year recent management experience
