Aon is looking for an Operations Consulting Senior Associate

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Strategy Consulting practice within the Strategy & Technology Group (STG) in Chicago, IL.

Aon STG Strategy Consulting provides advisory services to firms who operate across the insurance landscape, which include many of the most prestigious companies in the Global Property, Casualty, Insurtech, Digital Platforms, and Health and Benefit (re)insurance market. We help our clients to optimize people, process, technology and data to drive business outcomes. Most importantly we help our clients to turn insights into practical actions and into tangible outcomes.

As a Senior Operations Associate Consultant, you will be in a client-facing role working closely with Client Leaders, Project Managers, and Aon Leadership. Your role will involve leading project work streams to deliver business focused initiatives and recommendations for our clients through understanding their objectives, addressing their challenges, and developing operationally focused solutions that improve client's efficiency and efficacy. Operational consulting focus areas for our clients include program and project management, operating model design, organizational design and governance, process improvement and expense management.

As a Senior Operations Associate you will:
  • Contribute to full lifecycle client engagements by leading initiatives, handling project workstreams, and implementing operational recommendations
  • Responsible for delivery of project workstreams and outputs, managing team members, and mentoring colleagues outside of specific projects
  • Lead workstreams with clients to develop processes and methodologies that will guide them to the desired future state
  • Design and develop target operating models, compare current and future states and perform gap analyses
  • Identify, analyze and improve upon business processes, including workflow documentation and process maps
  • Design organizational structures and corporate governance frameworks
  • Take a lead role on analysis, initial story building, production of reports, and other client deliverables
  • Lead the facilitation of interviews with clients and Aon colleagues
  • Responsible for the identification and communication of recommendations to clients
  • Handle the client relationship alongside other STG colleagues
  • Work in a collaborative environment with clients and colleagues
  • Challenge the status quo and internal processes to find opportunities to work more efficiently
  • Lead by strong example and take on additional responsibility as required
  • Work with senior management to develop proposals and create marketing and business development materials
  • Support the operational needs of STG including internal initiatives such as recruiting, marketing, communications, etc.
  • Willing to travel (typically less than 20%)

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise.

Characteristics of an ideal candidate:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations or similar field
  • Proven experience with 3+ years of experience in insurance, operations or operations consulting
  • Experience in workflow optimization, process improvement or process mapping
  • Strong analytical abilities and a track record of academic success
  • Willingness to learn and to solve complex problems
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to communicate in a collaborative and client focused manner
  • Ability to perform well under pressure, on multiple work streams, and with tight deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and critical eye in overseeing work of junior analysts
  • Regularly finds opportunities to take on additional responsibility and to work more efficiently
  • Proven team player with the ability to leverage the knowledge of those around them
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to network and engage with all levels of collaborators (both internal and external)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Vizio)

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $85,000.00 to $136,800.00 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
