Commitment to Inclusive Excellence
Northern Kentucky University (NKU) seeks excellence by enriching its educational environment and culture through the diversity of its administration, faculty, and staff and by embracing inclusiveness, equity, and global awareness in all dimensions of its work. NKU is an Equal Opportunity/Equal Access/Affirmative Action institution. We encourage applications by members of diverse groups and by persons with a demonstrated commitment to issues of diversity and experience in achieving goals relative to inclusive excellence. Our vision is that NKU will be nationally recognized for being a student-ready, regionally engaged university that empowers diverse learners for economic and social mobility. We will do this while promoting a culture of excellence, acting with integrity, fostering a community of belonging, working with creativity and innovation, and maintaining a climate of collegiality. In your role, you will be expected to ensure that students who interact with you have a high-quality experience that supports the vision of the institution.
Purpose of Position

The School of Computing and Analytics (SCA) at NKU invites applications for tenure track positions in Cybersecurity at the rank of Assistant Professor. The positions are scheduled to start August 2024. Salary and benefits are competitive.

A typical teaching assignment is 3 courses per semester, including two courses at the upper level. NKU values quality teaching most of all, however all faculty members are expected to be active scholars. The incorporation of undergraduate and graduate students into research is especially valued. NKU has been designated as a National Center for Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Defense by the National Security Agency (NSA) and U.S. Department of Homeland Security. With its proximity to the Cincinnati downtown metropolitan area, NKU is the only CAE within the Northern Kentucky (NKY)/Greater Cincinnati region to have both undergraduate and graduate programs in cybersecurity. NKU is also currently the only CAE within the entire state of Kentucky to host an NSA/NSF GenCyber grant program. Every year in fall, NKU traditionally hosts its own Cybersecurity Symposium, which has become a popular event within the NKY/Cincinnati community. With the Bachelors and Masters programs in Cybersecurity being two of the fastest growing majors, NKU has multiple student organizations, including a very active NKCyber/ACM student club and Kentucky's first & only WiCyS (Women in Cybersecurity) student chapter. The NKCyber club has led to our very own NKU CyberDefense student team, which has competed and excelled in regional & national level cybersecurity competitions. Our faculty typically enjoy unique opportunities to work closely with a growing and thriving student population, including the student members of these two cybersecurity clubs.

The SCA is part of the College of Informatics (COI)(http://informatics.nku.edu). The college currently offers 14 Bachelor's degrees and 4 Master's degrees. The SCA is housed in a landmark high-tech building, Griffin Hall. The SCA offers multiple degrees and operates as a combination of three program clusters: Computer Science & Software Engineering (CS&SE), Cybersecurity & Information Technology (CYS&IT), and Information Systems & Analytics (IS&A). Visit https://www.nku.edu/academics/informatics/programs/sca.html for more information about the school.
