Wieland is hiring a Benefits/Leave Administrator to join the HR team! The Benefits/Leave Administrator will administer various benefit programs including health and welfare, retirement, leave of absence and wellness. Additionally this person will administer all employee benefit programs, including: medical, dental, vision, life, leave management, voluntary benefits, retirement, wellness, and employee assistance programs. This role will sit in our North American headquarters located Louisville, KY. This role will require travel for open enrollment to Wieland's North American sites.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with HRIS systems, be knowledgeable in deductibles/out of pocket maximums, be comfortable presenting benefits to employees, and have experience with FMLA.

Responsibilities

Benefits/Leave Administrator Responsibilities:

Leave Administration

    Administers the leave of absence programs, including family and medical leave, paid parental leave, military leave and short term disability and long term disability
  • Communicates with employees regarding their needs for leave; ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave
  • Handles the FMLA leave administration process from the initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work including gathering and completing the required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use
  • Facilitates other leave requests, which may include accommodation requests under the ADA
  • Manages disability, short term and long term, requests through third party administrators
  • Administers other company time-off programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws

Benefits Administration

  • Responds to benefit inquiries from employees, managers and other internal departments via email and phone
  • Conducts benefits orientations regarding employee benefits programs and provides employee with the information necessary to make informed benefits elections
  • Assists employees with navigating resources related to benefit claims and services
  • Promotes and engages employees in the wellness programs in an effort to influence healthy lifestyle choices. Hosts events and challenges, etc.
  • Monitors plan eligibility and enrollment; works with carriers to resolve issues including COBRA administration
  • Gathers benefit plan documentation and updates internal databases
  • Oversees benefit portals and systems (HRIS) to allow online benefits program enrollments, communication to carriers and accurate payroll deductions
  • Ensures accurate and timely transmission of carrier file feeds
  • Documents processes, maintains data and organizes files
  • Assists other team members with administration of health and welfare, retirement, leave management and wellness benefits
  • Manages benefits related projects and other tasks as necessary
  • Reconciles and verifies the calculation of monthly vendor invoices and processes payments. Audits against current employee elections/enrollments
  • Assists the Director of Employee Benefits with corporate benefit programs and reporting including ACA and other compliance requirements

Benefits/Leave Administrator Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, or related field
  • 3-5 years experience in benefits administration for an organization
  • Broad knowledge of employee benefits, leave management and WC programs
  • 3+ years experience administering benefits programs and managing disability, LOA, ADA, life insurance claims
  • Thorough understanding of local, state and federal guidelines that govern benefits plans and leave management; ERISA, ACA, IRS, FMLA, ADA
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Handle confidential employee information with discretion and good judgment
  • Strong organization skills with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software
  • Prior experience with HRIS systems - Dayforce HCM a plus
  • CEBS, PHR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is considered a plus
  • Willing to travel - domestically- 20% of the time
