Job Summary

JOB SUMMARY

The Business System Analyst (BSA) assists in promoting proactive approaches by leveraging available IT resources to help solve business needs/problems by: analyzing and coordinating department related activities within the various departments; diagnosing and recommending resolutions to application issues; documenting business processes; assisting in configuring application functionality in accordance to business rules and processes; ensuring continuity and successful delivery of departmental services to users throughout the organization; helping in maintaining data integrity; planning and coordinating production system changes; assisting in software upgrades, patches and fixes; assisting in administering system security; and assisting in business unit technology endeavors, including desktop applications, internet and intranet, to enhance the delivery of services to the organization. The key role of the BSA is to apply their functional and technical knowledge to examine business needs, ensure timely and effective solutions, support business process activities, and be an advocate for the business unit in the use of Information Technology.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist in the implementation of new applications, software modules and functional enhancements to existing software. Assist in performing tasks including, business requirements gathering, documenting specifications and test scripts, testing activities, tracking, and resolving issues, providing activity updates, and documenting changes to business workflows and processes.

Function as a liaison between internal IT as well as outside vendors and internal business customers to ensure the department user needs are addressed.

Assist in monitoring service requests (SR's) and assist in problem resolution working closely with support team, users, and product vendors in accordance with established change control policies and procedures.

Provide input for the development of department specifications to support process improvements through changes in practice, standardization, or IT automation.

Assist in providing training on new applications to business areas and help create training materials as needed. Ensure accurate work instructions and training documentation, process mapping, and workflow diagramming is maintained.

Respond to and resolve issues that arise within the business applications and systems. At times this may involve off-hours and weekend coverage.

Help create queries, views, reports, and analysis tools to empower management and end users to make more informed business decisions.

Provide support in testing activities, including documenting test plans, creating, and running test scripts, updating scripts and information in the company's established automated testing tools, and documenting and submitting issues to Enterprise Application development team or application vendor for correction, both during and after system change implementations.

Assist in supporting the maintenance and content for the departments and company's intranet and information to be provided on the company's internet. Ensure content is aligned with various business processes and objectives.

Implement and maintain system configuration to support designs and business processes.

Develop procedures to monitor and maintain data integrity of systems. Analyze the source of the problem for data integrity errors and recommend corrective action needed.

Assist Application Administrators to establish and maintain system security and those user responsibilities appropriately match employee duties. Coordinate the periodic system user access and responsibilities review.

Perform other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Generally, working a 40-hour week in an office environment involves mostly sedentary work on a computer for most of the workday. Requires some travel between locations for training and job skill enhancement. Occasionally required to provide off-hour support, including weekend coverage and incident response.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Associate degree in information technology, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related field; and

One (1) year experience in technology and applications; and

Valid driver's license.
