Purpose of Position
Northern Kentucky University invites internal applications for the Dean of the College of Health and Human Services position. The University seeks an experienced, accomplished, and engaging leader who embodies a vision informed by equity, embraces deliberative and shared governance, champions interdisciplinary strategic initiatives, and prioritizes external funding opportunities. The Dean will play a pivotal role in defining the College's contribution to the University's overarching mission. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the successful candidate will be charged with providing visionary, innovative leadership and effective administration of the College.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Advance the mission of the College and the University at large.

  • Oversee undergraduate and graduate education; enrollment management; academic and strategic planning; faculty and student development and retention; research, grants, and external funding; collaboration with various agencies and institutions; and continuous improvement of programs and management.

  • Support curricular enhancement and achieve a balanced vision for undergraduate and graduate programs, fostering leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Manage fiscal responsibilities and actively engage in fundraising and development activities to support the College's vision and mission.
Qualifications
  • Earned a terminal degree in a related field from an accredited U.S. institution.
  • Qualifications warranting the rank of tenured full professor.
  • A proven leadership, education, scholarship, and research excellence track record.
  • Demonstrated decision-making aligned with professional ethics and university processes.
  • Significant outcomes in faculty and staff development, engagement, and success.
  • Ability to establish collaborative relationships with faculty in a transparent, shared governance environment.
  • Strong commitment to student engagement, success, and sense of belonging.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
  • Administrative experience in a university, college setting, or health-related equivalent, including budget, personnel, and curriculum management.
  • Proven ability to foster interdisciplinary, intercollegiate, and community partnerships and programs.
  • Advocacy for innovative teaching and learning methods.
  • Experience in a clinical or professional setting.
  • Experience in securing external funding in support of the College's mission.
