Baptist Health is looking for a Genetic Counseling Assistant to join our team in Lexington, KY
Working in the Baptist Health Genetic Counseling Department, the Genetic Counseling Assistant provides specialized support to the genetic counselors.
The GCA is an integral part of the Genetics team and contributes to the management of diverse aspects of the service, including the coordination of care for patients, optimization of clinic and operational workflows, and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient-centered and administratively effective environment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in a biological/health science; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of genetics and genetic concept and vocabulary
Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Must be team-oriented and have the ability to work with a variety of clinical personnel.
Ability to communicate effectively, both over the telephone and in person.
Ability to handle confidential materials.
Adhere to protocols regarding patient privacy.
Ability to deal sensitively and effectively with patients.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well both independently, with little supervision, and in a team setting.
Must be adaptable/flexible in a changing work environment which may require upgrading of skills as the practice changes.
