JOB SUMMARY

Chastain & Associates LLC (Chastain) has an exciting opportunity for an Urban Planner working with public or private infrastructure projects in our Rockford, IL or Decatur, IL office. Qualified candidates will work in a collaborative environment with our team and alongside clients from private to municipal, state, and federal jurisdictions.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning or similar.
  • Experience in the field of urban planning and regional planning.
  • Experience with creating comprehensive plans, community engagement activities, and working with local ordinances and site planning.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attending meetings for various area municipalities, counties, and clients.
  • Communicating effectively orally and in writing.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative, effective relationships with staff, clients, community partners, and state agencies.
  • Working alongside our team of engineers, surveyors, and allied professionals.
  • Preparing and delivering public presentations; speaking in front of groups on a regular basis.
  • Preparing and managing grant applications.
  • Using GIS to collect data and create maps and exhibits for clients.
  • Finding effective solutions when solving problems and making decisions.
  • Maintaining records and documents according to prescribed standards.
  • Researching and collecting data then performing analyses and recommendations.
  • Utilizing various standard professional equipment.
  • Being flexible and adapting to changing workloads, projects, and timelines.
  • Mentoring and assisting entry level staff.
  • Maintaining Chastain’s core values.
