Description/Job Summary

Ensures extruded product conforms to product standard requirements by taking and documenting quality measurements, assists the Extrusion Technician in machine set up and troubleshooting techniques, and stacks products according to scheduling and standard protocol.

Responsibilities/Duties
  • Ensured that the workplace is safe, professional, and clean by upholding company THM practices (i.e. 5S, OCS, Safety, Recycle).

Examples include, but are not limited to, emptying the trash, sweeping floors and mezzanine areas, etc.

  • Assures validation and compliance of product requirements by performing and documenting quality checks on production materials at set intervals.
  • Assists the Extrusion Technician in the upkeep of the Extrusion line and set ups for production runs.

Examples include, but are not limited to, setting the guillotine knives, feeding product throughout the line on start up, visually monitor and observe the line for any arising machining or safety issues on a set schedule, etc.

  • Participates in continuous improvement initiatives by filling out forms that enhance the work environment, encourage machine efficiencies, and promote cost savings.
  • Assists in Trial Production which can include actions in machine set up, raw materials, or other trial activities.
  • Participate in product development efforts as opportunity presents.
  • Supports the PM program by completing specific job assigned tasks. (Example: cleaning calibrator plates, remove debris from guillotine, clean treater bar).
  • Relieves the line Extrusion Technician for his/her breaks and lunch.
  • Completes assigned wrapping and banding to package skids.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and basic math
  • Must be able to read a ruler and measure in US standards
  • Able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel both in writing and verbally
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong Troubleshooting skills
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Available to work overtime when needed

  • Computer
  • Forklift
  • Safety: (Example: ear plugs, safety glasses, steel toed shoes, etc.)
  • Light Measuring Devices: (Example: tape measures, scales, calipers, etc.)

C. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

  1. Climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  2. Balancing, maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.
  3. Stooping, bending body downward and forward by bending spine and waist.
  4. Example: Changing paper in printer, copier machine.
  5. Kneeling and crouching, bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  6. Crawling, moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
  7. Reaching, extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  8. Example: Giving signals, reaching for material or handle on item.
  9. Standing, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  10. Walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances.
  11. Pushing, using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
  12. Pulling, using upper extremities to exert force in order to drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
  13. Lifting, raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position.
  14. DEGREE OF LIFTING: 26-50 LBS.
  15. Fingering, picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in handling.
  16. Grasping, applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm.

D. VISUAL ACTIVITY REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

  1. Machine operation, inspection, and close assembly.

Example: Preparing and analyzing data and figures, CRT exposure, extensive reading, visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, using measurement devices or fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

2. Mobile equipment operations; fork lifts.

3. Position requires individual to differentiate colors, depth and perception.

E. WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION

1. Inside and outside environments apply.

2. Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gases, or high heat.
